The Challenger Division is a Pop Warner football and cheer program for youth ages five to sixteen with physical and/or developmental disabilities who are enrolled in school. The Challenger program provides a safe and structured environment for everyone to participate in the great game of football.
The rules are very similar to the rules for the Pop Warner flag football program. The Challenger program is non-competitive and no score is kept. Participants play with a "buddy" who assists them with the ball and navigating the field. Modified Rules of the Pop Warner Challenger Division
1.
Challenger Division follows Pop Warner Flag Football Rules with modifications
as noted in the Rules.
2. All children ages 5-16 who currently enrolled in school with physical
or developmental disabilities.
3. Level of play based on size, age and skill level are recommended where
numbers allow.
4. Teams must roster a minimum of 10 and no more than 28 players.
5. Games are played with a minimum of five (5) players on each side. This
can increase as participation numbers increase.
6. No Score is kept.
7. Teams are permitted one (1) game per week.
8. All players receive equal number of plays.
9. Pop Warner recommends team helpers must be a minimum of 13 years of
age to assist participants.
10. Team Jerseys and flags provided for every participant.
11. Insurance for the Challenger Teams is the same as Pop Warner Flag
Football teams.
12. One Coach permitted on the field at all times.
13. Teams play two 25 minute half's with a running clock.
